NOTE OF URGENCY:

ATTENTION CONSUMERS:

DURING AN INCIDENT ALL NON-REGISTERED CONSUMERS MUST PROVIDE YOUR NAME, ADDRESS AND PROVIDE A DESCRIPTION OF THE INCIDENT TO THE EMERGENCY "911" DISPATCHER.

Through Internet Relay, people who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired can make calls using their computer, web phone, personal digital assistant (PDA) or any other Internet-capable device.

To access this feature, users must have an Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Ten-Digit Phone Numbers for Internet Relay Users!

Effective immediately, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will have a ten-digit phone numbering system in place for all Internet Relay users.

With ten-digit dialing, Internet Relay users will be able to:

  • Make an emergency call via Internet Relay. Your ten-digit number and location information will automatically route to the nearest emergency center. (Currently, emergency calls from Internet Relay users lack key identifying data and typically need to be rerouted.)
  • Receive calls directly from voice users.
  • Dial Internet Relay users directly.
  • Switch providers at any time and keep the same telephone number.

Visit www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/trstendigit.html for more information.
